Meet Our People

Creative Clunes Inc, the body behind the successful Clunes Booktown Festival, Booktown on Sunday, Book Clubs Hub and the Clunes Ceramic Award, and instrumental in the transformation of Clunes, is always on the look out for new board members.

From 2007-2021 Creative Clunes Inc has grown from a small volunteer-led group to an ambitious multi-activity organisation with dozens of industry partners and sponsors delivering local and international programs.

Dr Ember Parkin

Chair
Dr Ember Parkin has a PhD in sociology and is an experienced consultant with a great depth of knowledge about place, rural & regional issues, young people, and history & heritage. Ember has expertise in research, stakeholder engagement, relationship building, strategy development & implementation and evaluation.

Richard Gilbert

Board Member & Logistic Specialist
Richard has been involved in volunteer organisations since 1965. He is particularly involved in tourist railways and tramways. This has involved construction, marketing, managing and contact with local, state and federal government agencies. Richard has published three books and currently edits and produces a periodical magazine. He joined CCI in 2008 and has been on the Board since then. Richard held the Presidency for one term.

Andrew Reid

Treasurer
Andy has a Masters in Business Administration majoring in Entrepreneurial Management and is an experienced finance expert gaining over twenty years experience within the Banking and Finance industries. A passionate contributor to the arts and culture scene both as a performer and advocator, Andy also has expertise in stakeholder engagement, corporate governance, strategic development and community leadership.

Leslie Falkiner-Rose

Board Member & Book Clubs Hub Chair
Leslie is an experienced print, radio and television journalist who now focuses on strategic communications and collaborative educational, social and cultural change initiatives. Leslie, who holds a Masters in Philanthropy & Social Investment, is a Trustee of the Ruffin Falkiner Foundation; on the Advisory Board of the Master of Social Impact at Swinburne University; and a board member of the Public Interest Journalism Initiative.

John Griffin

Board Member
At the age of 16 John joined VicPol cadets and served for 20 years. From there he went into real estate and direct marketing business. Currently he works as a property developer and builder in Melbourne. John is now based in Clunes full time and he is very interested in sport and community activity. John joined the CCI Board in 2020.

Jeremy Harper

Board Member
Jeremy Harper has lived locally in Kingston since coming to the area in 1975 as a young lawyer. He has worked in aboriginal legal aid in Queensland & Victoria from 1977 before starting his own law firm in 1983, practising mainly in family and criminal law. He has been active in various disability, tennis, legal aid and other community organisations over the years. He is married and enjoys the company of his children and grandchildren.

Sue Beal

CEO
Sue has over thirty years of program and event production and management, performing arts venue establishment and management, and community relations experience. Working across a range of sectors including local and state governments, the not-for-profit and corporate sectors, Sue knows how to get things done. She has extensive experience in cultural programming, event development and event coordination including for the White Night Festival, the Moomba Festival, Cirque du Soleil and Arts House at North Melbourne Town Hall and the Meat Market.

Sharon Hughes

Arts Administrator & Marketing Coordinator
Sharon is a Professional Fine Art Photographer working in Central Victoria. She has exhibited locally and internationally, and her work has been collected by the National Library of Australia along with numerous private collections in Australia and internationally. Sharon holds a Bachelor of Photography and is an experienced arts professional with a background in supporting photographic studios, art galleries and creative businesses. Sharon Supports CCI on a part-time basis.

Creative Producer
Suzi is privileged to live and work on the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung, and has enjoyed a lifelong passion for the arts, cultural, creative industries and education. She has collaborated with creative teams, artists, writers, producers and, technical teams, and communities, working on multidisciplinary projects across regional and metro Victoria and the Northern Territory.
