Meet Our People

Creative Clunes Inc, the body behind the successful Clunes Booktown Festival, Booktown on Sunday, Book Clubs Hub and the Clunes Ceramic Award, and instrumental in the transformation of Clunes, is always on the look out for new board members.

From 2007-2019 Creative Clunes Inc has grown dramatically from a small volunteer-led group to an ambitious multi-activity organisation with dozens of industry partners and sponsors delivering local and international programs.

Andrew Reeves

Chair
Andrew Reeves is Professorial Fellow and Senior Research Adviser at Deakin University where he works on collaborative research and cultural projects. A historian by training, he worked for many years in Australian museums and published widely in the fields of labour and industrial history and material culture studies.

Leslie Falkiner-Rose

Board Member & Book Clubs Hub Chair
Leslie is an experienced print, radio and television journalist who now focuses on strategic communications and collaborative educational, social and cultural change initiatives. Leslie, who holds a Masters in Philanthropy & Social Investment, is a Trustee of the Ruffin Falkiner Foundation; on the Advisory Board of the Master of Social Impact at Swinburne University; and a member of Philanthropy Australia’s Storytelling Steering Group.

John Griffin

Board Member
At the age of 16 John joined VicPol cadets and served for 20 years. From there he went into real estate and direct marketing business. Currently he works as a property developer and builder in Melbourne. John is now based in Clunes full time and he is very interested in sport and community activity. John joined the CCI Board in 2020.

Dr Ember Parkin

Deputy Chair
Dr Ember Parkin has a PhD in sociology and is an experienced consultant with a great depth of knowledge about place, rural & regional issues, young people, and history & heritage. Ember has expertise in research, stakeholder engagement, relationship building, strategy development & implementation and evaluation.

Richard Gilbert

Board Member & Logistic Specialist
Richard has been involved in volunteer organisations since 1965. He is particularly involved in tourist railways and tramways. This has involved construction, marketing, managing and contact with local, state and federal government agencies. Richard has published three books and currently edits and produces a periodical magazine. He joined CCI in 2008 and has been on the Board since then. Richard held the Presidency for one term.

Chris O'Donnell

Treasurer
After many years in the corporate sector in Melbourne Chris moved to Clunes. In 2017 she became a partner of the Red Door Gallery in Clunes, later becoming the sole owner until its closure in March 2020. Since then Chris has retired to gardening and developing her artistic career, and volunteering for several local organisations.

Lois Nichols

Board Member
Lois started a transport business at a young age and worked in transport & media sales most of her career, having spent 20 years with ACP (formerly Packers). Lois spent a number of years as a director of a PR Agency before branching out of her own to start her own PR business in homewares product placement. She managed that for several years before retirement. Lois joined CCI in 2020.

Richard Mackay-Scollay

CEO
Richard moved to Clunes, from Perth, to be closer to family. With a background as a Business Manager for PICA, Her Majesty's Theatre Perth & Melbourne he took up his role as CEO of Creative Clunes Inc in 2016 and has been developing The Clunes Booktown Festival and umbrella events ever since.

Sharon Hughes

Arts Administrator
Sharon is a Professional Photographer working in Central Victoria. She has exhibited locally and internationally and her work has been collected by the National Library of Australia along with numerous private collections in Australia and internationally. Sharon is an experienced arts professional with a background in supporting photographic studios, art galleries and creative businesses.
